Check a site's llms.txt, or draft one from its pages so AI assistants get a map of your site. Free, no sign-up. Use it at [llms.txt generator](https://productsfarm.com/tools/llms-txt-generator).

## How it works

1. Enter your site. We look for /llms.txt and /llms-full.txt at its root and check the title, summary, sections and links.
2. We read your homepage and sitemap, then your key pages for their titles and descriptions, starting with the links in your navigation and footer. Up to 20 pages in all.
3. You get a draft in the llmstxt.org format, grouped into main pages, docs, blog and optional pages. Edit it, then copy or download it.

## Questions

### What is llms.txt?

A markdown file at the root of a site, at /llms.txt, proposed at llmstxt.org in 2024. It starts with the site's name as a “# ” title and a one-line “>” summary, then lists the key pages under “## ” headings, each as a link with a short note.

### Do AI assistants read llms.txt?

Some do, but not all. It's a proposed standard, not an official one. Some AI agents and coding tools read it when they work with a site, and many docs sites publish one. It isn't a ranking factor in search, and having one doesn't mean an assistant will cite you.

### What's the difference between llms.txt and llms-full.txt?

llms.txt is a short map: a summary and links to your key pages. llms-full.txt is optional and holds the full text of those pages, often your docs, in one file, so a tool can read everything without following links.

### How is it different from robots.txt and a sitemap?

robots.txt tells crawlers what they may fetch. A sitemap lists every page so search engines can find them. llms.txt does neither: it's a short written guide to what your site is and which pages matter most, for a language model to read.

### Where do I put it?

At the root of your site, so it opens at yoursite.com/llms.txt. Serve it as plain text, not as a web page, and use full addresses for the links.

### Is it free?

Yes, and you don't need an account. To keep it free for everyone, each visitor can run 10 checks an hour.
