King of Apps is a public leaderboard of apps ranked only by how much their makers paid. There is no algorithm, no voting and no editor, so the order of the board follows the order of the money.
Makers enter their app's website and choose the categories where it should compete, with one main category. Listings start at $4 with a single payment and no expiry. A maker who is outbid can top up to win the spot back, and extra dollars can be added up front as a safety margin. Clicks on a listing go straight to the app.
The site also shows a live feed of rank changes, total money paid and clicks sent, and offers two ad slots listed at $50 per week. It is aimed at app makers who want paid visibility.
